Discursive Picnic ( Prati del Talvera / Talferwiese )

In un Picnic Discorsivo tutti i partecipanti sono simultaneamente ospititanti e ospitati. La sua struttura di potluck incoraggia le persone coinvolte a contribuire in vario modo e a combinare gli elementi forniti con i materiali che escono dalla borsa termica di UNWETTER. Questi eventi presentano quindi un carattere di improvvisazione. Il Picnic Discorsivo crea uno spazio comune di operazione, ed offre una struttura informale per la costruzione di organizzazioni e di reti di relazioni discorsive e dialogiche attraverso i partecipanti. Ci si siede, si sistemano elementi mobili – coperte, tende, accessori da picnic – si scambiano cibo e riflessioni, per partire poi in nuove direzioni, attraverso passeggiate, diversioni, esplorazioni di altri spazi.

Es sind Stadtbewohner und Gäste zu einem Plauder-Picknick eingeladen. Seine “potluck” Struktur (Essen, bei dem jeder Beteiligte eine Speise mitbringt) ermutigt die Gäste sich am Picknick zu beteiligen und mit den Lebensmitteln aus der “thermischen Tasche” von UNWETTER zu kombinieren. Plauder-Picknicks haben einen improvisatorischen Charakter und schaffen somit Raum für Aktionen und bieten eine zwanglose Atmosphäre für Gruppenbildungen und interessante Beziehungsnetze, sowie diskursive Dialoge zwischen den Teilnehmern. Dort wo man sich setzt, bilden sich bewegliche Elemente – Decken, Tücher, Picknick-Accessoires – es werden Speisen und Überlegungen ausgetauscht, um dann in Spaziergängen, Abschweifungen und Erkundungstouren, in neue Richtungen zu starten

Within the Discursive Picnic all participants are simultaneously guest and host. Its potluck format encourages all attendees to bring along various contributions and to combine them with the materials unpacked from the UNWETTER thermos-box. The Discursive Picnic creates a common operational space and provides an informal structure for temporary organization, nomadic performances, and networks of discursive and dialogical relationships among participants. We sit down, set-up flexible elements – blankets, picnic furniture, tents etc. – share food, exchange thoughts, and eventually move on, departing in new directions through walks, associations, diversions, and exploring other spaces.

A partire dal 2002, UNWETTER, collettivo di Berlino composto da artisti, curatori, critici e attivisti, ha sviluppato pratiche collaborative, sperimentali e partecipative in una vasta serie di situazioni ed eventi. Attraverso metodologie aperte e flessibili, UNWETTER connette contesti differenti in un processo continuo di scambi reciproci.

UNWETTER sind KünstlerInnen, KuratorInnen, AktivistInnen und TheoretikerInnen, die als Basisformat für ihre Arbeit „diskursive Picknicks“ vorschlagen. Damit verbinden sie verschiedene Kontexte und stellen einen fortlaufenden Prozess des wechselseitigen Austausches her.

UNWETTER, a Berlin based group of international artists, curators, critics and activists, has developed collaborative, experimental and participatory practices in a wide-ranging series of events and situations since 2002. Within changeable and open formats UNWETTER connects different contexts in an ongoing process of reciprocal exchange.

AMY PLANT Informal Learning

Informal learning, apprendimento informale, e’ conoscenza che non e’ stata catturata ed esiste solo nella testa di qualcuno. Per avere accesso a questa conoscenza bisogna trovare la persona con la quale condividerla. La conoscenza non ha valore se la si tiene per se’. Lavorando con il gruppo Giant-Bi come punto di partenza, inizieremo un viaggio alla ricerca di “informal learning” tra individui e gruppi a Bolzano. Durante questo breve periodo di investigazione progetteremo insieme un workshop per tutti i partecipanti. La natura dell’informal learning e’ “rispondente”, si basa su “risposte” e reazioni delle persone coinvolte, ed e’ quindi impossibile conoscerne i risultati in precedenza. “Informal learning” opera attraverso conversazioni, implica un esplorare e un allargare l’esperienza e puo’ aver luogo dovunque.

Informal learning, informelles Lernen, ist eine Art zu lernen, wie es jeder von uns im Alltag erlebt. Es ist Wissen, welches nicht verschlüsselt ist, und um einen Zugang dazu zu haben muss man jemanden finden, mit dem man es teilen kann: Wissen ist wertlos, wenn man es für sich behält. Mit der Gruppe Giant-Bi beginnen wir eine Reise auf der Suche nach „informal learning“.

Informal learning is knowledge, which has not been captured and exists only inside someone’s head. To access that knowledge you have to find the person who can share it with you. Knowledge is worthless if you keep it to yourself. Working with the group Giant-Bi as a starting point, we will set off on a journey to find ‘informal learning’ taking place between individuals and groups in Bolzano. During this short period of investigation, we will devise the workshop together. Because the nature of informal learning is responsive, it is impossible to know the outcome in advance. It works through, and is driven by, conversation. It involves exploring and enlarging experience and it can take place anywhere.

Amy Plant si interessa al principio ecologico che ogni cosa e’ connessa con qualsiasi altra. Vive principalmente a Londra e ha viaggiato in lungo e in largo, lavorando a progetti di forme e dimensioni diverse e che rispondono a situazioni, e che non potrebbero esistere senza un ampio spettro di collaboratori e un gran numero di conversazioni.

Amy Plant ist eine Künstlerin und entwickelt Projekte, die auf ganz spezifische Situationen und Kontexte reagieren; sie werden meist in Kooperationen und Gesprächen ortsbezogen ausgearbeitet. Amy Plant verfolgt das ökologische Prinzip, dass jede Sache mit jeder anderen verbunden ist. Sie lebt vornehmlich in London und ist viel und weit gereist, und hat an Projekten von unterschiedlichen Dimensionen teilgenommen. In ihren Arbeiten such sie  eine Antwort auf vielfältige Situationen, ihre Recherche und auch künstlerische Intervention entsteht meist ortsbezogen und in Kooperationen und vielzähligen Gesprächen.

Today I am concerned with the ecology principal that everything is connected to everything else. I am based, precariously, in London and have traveled quite a bit initiating projects of many shapes and sizes that respond to situations and couldn’t exist without a wide spectrum of collaborators and lots of conversation.

Ci mancherebbe altro! Fehlt dir etwas? On missing, losing and getting rid of something?

Hai mai perduto qualcosa che non hai piu’ ritrovato? O, al contrario, desideri disperatamente sbarazzarti di qualcosa? Per tre settimane a Bolzano Il Committee for Radical Diplomacy gestira’ una “lost/found agency”, un’ufficio di “cose” (ma non necessariamente oggetti) smarrite/ritrovate, lavorando con diverse metodologie che permettano di (ri)considerare quello che ci viene a mancare, che perdiamo, o di cui vorremmo sbarazzarci. La “lost/found agency” operera’ come uno spazio informale, la cui organizzazione dipendera’ da chi ne prende parte; come possiamo sostenere, trovare e ri-cercare i nostri desideri, speranze e idee attraverso un processo collettivo.

Hast du schon einmal etwas verloren, was du nicht wieder gefunden hast? Oder, umgekehrt, möchtest du dich unbedingt von etwas befreien? Für drei Wochen eröffnet das Committee for Radical Diplomacy in Zusammenarbeit mit Donna Nissà ein verloren/gefunden-Büro für Dinge oder Gedanken. Die Gruppe entwickelt Methoden um Wünsche neu-zu-finden und für Umgangsweisen mit kollektiven Prozessen, Hoffnungen und Ideen.

Did you ever lose something that you never found back? Or conversely, are you desperate to get rid of something? The committee for radical diplomacy will establish a transversal lost/found agency over three weeks in Bolzano, working with various games and methodologies that allow us to address what we miss, lost, found or want to get rid of – with the aim of doing something about these things. The lost / found agency will operate as an informal space, the organization of which will be up to us; how can we support, find and re-search our desires, hopes and ideas within collective processes?

Il Committee for Radical Diplomacy e’ un gruppo di collaboratori cronici con una passione per i protocolli della diplomazia formale (cocktail parties, giochi di spionaggio, scambi di regali, mormorii e dicerie, gesti di ospitalita’) e per le meccaniche di un organizzarsi costituente.

Committee for Radical Diplomacy ist ein lose Gruppe von Personen, mit einer besonderen Leidenschaft für formale diplomatische Protokolle und für Handlungsweisen die es ermöglichen sich grundlegend zu organisieren.

The Committee for Radical Diplomacy is a gaggle of chronic collaborators with a passion for the protocols of formal diplomacy (cocktail parties, gift-giving, careless whispers, gestures of hospitality) and the mechanics of constituent organizing.

Cooking with Mama ( Lungomare Gallery )

Per la chiusura di Summer Drafts, Hiwa K preparera’ un Cooking with Mama, evento che coinvolge il pubblico e i partecipanti nella preparazione e nel consumo di cibo, cucinato in contemporanea con la madre in Irak, con cui l’artista comunica attraverso skype. Mentre solitamente e’ la madre di Hiwa a insegnare al figlio come cucinare un piatto tipico iracheno, in questo caso saranno gli stessi partecipanti di Summer Drafts a pensare un piatto da cucinare e da far cucinare alla madre di Hiwa, e ad altre persone in posti diversi. Il piatto cucinato costituirà un tentativo di traduzione in cibo dell’esperienza di Summer Drafts e dei suoi risultati, che verranno così simbolicamente proiettati aldilà dei confini del contesto di Bolzano.

Als Abschlussevent von Summer Drafts wird Hiwa K gemeinsam mit seiner Mutter kochen. Während Hiwa K kocht, kommuniziert er zeitgleich mit seiner Mutter im Irak via Skype. Das Event soll das Publikum und die Teilnehmer bei der Speisenzubereitung und beim Essen mit einbeziehen. Normalerweise ist es die Mutter, die ihrem Sohn beibringt, ein typisch-iranisches Gericht zu zaubern. Doch in diesem Fall werden es die Teilnehmer von Summer Drafts sein, die sich eine Speise ausdenken und sie von Hiwa’s Mutter und anderen Leuten an unterschiedlichen Orten zeitgleich kochen lassen. Das fertige Gericht wird ein Übersetzungsversuch von Speisen sein, welcher die Erfahrungen und die Ergebnisse von Summer Drafts zusammenfasst und so symbolisch über die Grenzen des Kontextes von Bozen hinaus in die Welt projiziert.

For the closing event of Summer Drafts, Hiwa K will prepare a Cooking with Mama, involving the public and the participants in the preparation and consumption of food, cooked simultaneously with the mother in Iraq: mother and son will be connected via skype. Usually is the mother who shows how to cook an Iraqi dish, but in this case the participants of Summer Drafts will think a dish to cook together with Hiwa’s mother and other people outside Bolzano. The dish will be an attempt to translate into food the experience of Summer Drafts, whose results will be therefore symbolically projected beyond the context of the Bolzano.

Hiwa K e’ artista visivo e musicista, i suoi interessi si aggirano attorno a nozioni quali performativita’ ed evento, e alla figura dell’artista come amateur. Recentemente ha sviluppato una serie di progetti che esplorano paradossi della competenza culturale e disseminazioni di conoscenza. Hiwa K partecipera’ a Manifesta 7 con una performance per l’apertura della biennale a Bolzano.

Hiwa K ist Künstler und Musiker und interessiert sich besonders für die Paradoxen der kulturellen Verantwortung und für die Verbreitung von Wissen.

Hiwa K is visual artist and musician, and his interests evolve around the figure of the artist as an amateur. He has been developing a series of projects exploring the paradoxes of cultural competency and the dissemination of knowledge. Hiwa will also take part to the opening of Manifesta 7 with the performance Moon Calendar.
